The European Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/703 establishing a network code on interoperability and data exchange rules (NC INT) introduced a data exchange protocol (AS4) and format (Edig@s) for all natural gas transmission network users; let it be traders, shippers, system operators, distributors, or storage operators. The regulation requires these market participants to use the aforementioned protocol and format for data exchange and communication.
Now, AS4 v4.0 introduces a major security leap: elliptic curve cryptography (ECC), where 256-bit keys are as strong as 3072-bit RSA keys! That means faster, more secure, and more efficient encryption. The EC published the new eDelivery AS4 Profile 2.0 in Dec 2024, followed by ENTSOG’s AS4 v4.0 in Sept 2025, and we’re fully up to speed. Our AS4 Communicator has been relaunched!
