Croatian Gas Market Needs Balancing
This was the third time that our company was invited as an expert to the biggest gathering of the Croatian gas market, the 31th International Scientific & Expert Meeting of Gas Professionals. The professional reason behind the event held in Opatija between 4th and 6th May was the liberalization of the European gas market.
The International Scientific & Expert Meeting of Gas Professionals and the gas equipment exhibition were held successfully in Opatija, Croatia between 4th and 6th May 2016. The largest annual gas event in South-East Europe organized by the Croatian Gas Centre Ltd. and Croatian Gas Association gathered more than 550 participants from 22 European countries.
The most exciting and also most topical question of this year’s conference were the changes evoked by the new gas year starting on 1st October 2016. "From this date on the Balancing Network Code (BAL NL) directive of the EU, i.e. the EU conform processes and regulation of gas market balancing must be implemented in Croatia, as well. We have several years of experience in this field and our relevant product, Balancing-IP, which was introduced in 2010, has been among the first ones to accomplish this task,” said Ákos Füzi, managing director of Navitasoft.
IP Systems was one of the chosen speakers of the conference with the topic of “Experiences of the 6-year-old Hungarian Balancing Market” and we were also invited to participate in the panel discussion on “Gas Supply in a Liberated Market Economy”. After the presentation and the panel discussion the experts of our company were addressed several times and they also provided local counselling to answer the questions arose.
“The Croatian national natural gas storage facility was opened to private traders in 2014 and the implementation of the IT platform required by the multiplayer model was developed by us. Implementation of the BAL-NC is one of the final step for the liberalization so the Croatian energy market is a very important part of our activities. We declared it a success that in the recent years we have not only been addressed with questions as a software developer company, but also as an expert of the market,” added Ákos Füzi.
